Support from the Black Empowerment & Community Council

The Black Empowerment & Community Council (BECC) attended the historic ceremony with great pride. They presented Chief Broadway with a symbolic memento of solidarity and encouragement. This gift, offered by BECC Founder & CEO Tiffany Jeffers, symbolizes the Council’s unwavering support for initiatives that promote justice, transparency, and meaningful community engagement.

“Chief Broadway brings a powerful combination of leadership and heart to Kissimmee,” said Jeffers. “As BECC works to uplift the Black community through education, economic development, public safety, health, and social justice, we see today’s swearing-in as a step forward not just for law enforcement, but for community empowerment.”

Building Stronger Partnerships

The Council believes that strong partnerships between civic leaders and the community are vital to creating safer, more equitable neighborhoods. BECC’s Public Safety Table, one of its core committees, is dedicated to building trust. They are focused on offering community-led safety solutions and championing policies that reflect the lived realities of Black residents in Osceola County.

Community engagement is essential. Together, civic leaders and organizations like BECC strive to ensure that everyone feels safe and secure in their neighborhoods. This collective effort drives progress and innovation in public safety approaches.

A Renewed Purpose for Kissimmee

With today’s swearing-in, Kissimmee embraces a renewed purpose. BECC stands ready to support Chief Broadway and the Kissimmee Police Department in fostering safer, inclusive environments for all residents. The collaboration between law enforcement and community organizations is crucial in promoting peace.

We all have a role to play in creating a supportive atmosphere. Whether through volunteering, attending community meetings, or advocating for policies that uplift marginalized voices, every action contributes to collective safety.

Today marks a commitment to the future. The notion that “community empowerment” plays a central role in policing cannot be overstated. A community-oriented approach builds trust and enhances safety for all.
