Katrina Minus
BECC Ambassador of the Year
My name is Katrina Minus, and I was born on October 26, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. Although I was born in Ohio, I was raised in Opa-locka, Florida, where I spent most of my childhood. I am the youngest of three children and grew up in a two-parent household where education was always emphasized as the most important responsibility.
I attended North Miami Senior High School and graduated in 1984. After high school, I enrolled at Miami Dade College, where I studied for two years before getting married and taking a break from my education. However, I have always believed in the motto, “You can’t finish unless you start,” and that belief led me back to school after a ten-year hiatus.
While working full-time and raising my daughter, I returned to college and earned my bachelor's degree in business from The Union Institute. Determined to continue growing academically and professionally, I went on to pursue my Master of Business Administration from Walden University.
I dedicated 37 years of my career to Dade County Public Schools, serving in various roles, including as a teacher. My time in education was both rewarding and impactful, allowing me to contribute to the development of many students’ lives. In 2023, I retired from the school system and began a new chapter.
After retirement, I relocated to Central Florida, where I had my forever home built. Currently, I am enjoying working for myself as the owner of my baking business, Kluvly’s Sweet Treats, where my motto is “All Sweets are Possible.” Through my business, I have found both passion and purpose.
I am also a proud member of BECC, where I have connected with inspiring individuals, including the CEO Mrs. Tiffany Jeffers, and many other like-minded Black entrepreneurs. These connections have helped me continue to grow both personally and professionally.
Looking ahead, my goal is to expand my baking business beyond Florida and throughout the East Coast. I am committed to building a lasting legacy through hard work, dedication, and faith in my vision.
